Avora® FR fabrics are found in hospitality, healthcare, office environments, transportation and a myriad of other markets that demand the utmost performance in textile as well as flammability standards.
Unlike the topical FR treatments, the inherent flame resistance of Avora® FR never washes off and passes NFPA 701 small scale. Since Avora® FR is non-absorbent; stains adhere only to the surface making stain removal much simpler.
Avora® - Performance
Use and care processes place high demands on domestic textiles. Frequent use of seat covers causes them to crease or wear through. This can occur particularly with upholstery fabrics with flam-resistant treatments, as they can be damaged by topical treatments.
Light-fastness and UV resistance are very important for curtains and upholstery fabrics. Natural fiber fabrics treated with flame-resistant finishes can be damaged very quickly when exposed to UV.
These problems can be alleviated with suitable designs, but limits ideas for the designers.
Avora® FR fabrics on the other hand have a polyester fiber with flame-resistant modification as the base material. The low level of modification means that the positive properties of polyester are virtually unaffected.

Avora® FR Washing
Avora® FR is cheaper to wash than flame-resistant treated cotton
Avora® FR has non-absorbent properties. Cotton absorbs a large percent of water. Therefore, using Avora® FR means:
Less water is added to the washing machine
Less energy is needed to heat the water
Fewer chemicals are required because there is less water for dilution
Avora® FR Stain Removal
Because Avora® FR is inherently flame-resistant; the flame-resistance never washes out of the fabric as it does in flame-resistant treated cotton fabric. From a liability standpoint, Avora® FR is the best product you can use.
Since Avora® is non-absorbent, stains adhere only to the surface, making stain removal much simpler

Avora® FR Rinsing

Due to the non-absorbency of Avora® FR the rinsing times and the number of overall rinses is reduced
A 12-minute high speed extract in a Broadbent JB210 produced residual moisture of 52% for flame-resistant treated cotton. At the same time, residual moisture of 9.5% was produced on the Avora® FR.
A membrane press operating on a two-minute cycle at 27 bars of pressure produces residual moisture of 56% for flame-resistant treated cotton and 23% for Avora® FR.
Avora® FR Drying
Drying Avora® FR is less time-consuming and cheaper than drying cotton.
110 pounds of cotton blankets dried in a tumbler dryer requires 20 minutes, while 110 pounds of Avora® FR blankets dried in a tumbler dryer requires 10 minutes.
Less material is used for the finished article made of Avora® FR means a lower per unit cost.
When using cotton curtains allow for 10% shrinkage in treated cotton. When using Avora® FR it allows for 2% shrinkage.
Avora® FR Upholstery
General instructions for removing stains: Surface stains can be removed if wiped immediately with a sponge. Dried-on stains are not as easy to remove. Never rub roughly to remove a stain. to avoid a ring, work from the outside with a clean sponge. If the stain is small, dabbing with a clean sponge is sufficient. When working with a damp sponge, be careful that the fabric only gets damp, not wet. Follow manufacturer's recommendations regarding the effects of stain removing agents on upholstery or filling materials. Spot removal is only worth-while with small stains. In the case of large stains or general soiling, the whole cover should be cleaned. Wet vacuum machines should not be used as they can leave traces of shampoo on the fabric, which negatively affects the flam-resistant qualities. After cleaning, the fabric should be allowed to dry completely. No heat should be used.
Removable Covers: Can be dry-cleaned. They should only be washed on the easy-care program at 105¡F (40¡) if this is recommended by the manufacturer on the sew-in label.
Disinfecting: If required, chlorine products can be used in hospitals. Steam disinfecting is permissible. Do not over wet. Test a well-hidden area for colorfastness prior to using chlorine products.
Pressure Marks: Can be removed with a steam iron. However, care should be taken that it does not touch the fabric. This treatment recovers the pile.
Shading: On velour fabrics, the pile can appear shaded. This is an optical effect and brushing removes it.
Static Electricity: May build up in low humidity or in centrally heated rooms during the winter. If the humidity cannot be increased, spray the upholstery fabric with a salt solution 0.075 oz/l (2 g/l) giving a 20-30% dampness depending on the type of material.
Pilling, Frosting: Can occur if the fabric is subjected to mechanical stress. Use an electric shaver on the fabric or a plastic brush intended for this purpose.

Hospitality: Avora® FR fibers can be converted into a wide array of textile cloths. From sheers to velvets, every end-use demand can be beautifully met when using Avora® FR. Avora® FR fabrics have good ultraviolet stability which means they stand up well to sunlight exposure. When natural fibers become brittle, Avora® FR fibers retain their tenacity for a considerable time when exposed to light. Even when rubbed hard with a wet, white cloth, Avora® FR leaves No color marks on the white cloth. Fabrics made with Avora® FR also are dimensionally stable. Normally, creases drop out by themselves. The soft, flowing drape makes the fabric elegant and attractive. The fabric has a high abrasion resistance and great tensile strength. Compared to regular polyester, Avora® FR fibers are distinguished by faster, deeper and more brilliant dyeing. Avora® FR fabrics have outstanding washing characteristics that offer significant economic benefits for commercial applications: fast cleaning, short drying times, a long service life and very good serviceability. Because the fiber only absorbs small amounts of moisture, it can be washed in less water. Hence, less energy and detergent are needed. Compared to natural fibers, dyeing is several times quicker, which also contributes to lower costs.
Healthcare: In addition to safety, the hygienic advantages of Avora® FR fabrics provide a major benefit. Avora® FR fabrics perform equal to and many times far superior than most other textile materials, including cotton. Even the most resistant stains, like those caused by disinfectants such as permanganate, are easy to remove. Using selected dyes, Avora® FR can even resist chlorine. Avora® FR safety fabrics can be disinfected much more easily than cotton and can be bleached keeping color intact; this is impossible with fabrics made of cotton.
