Residential: Abrasion Resistance ASTMD 4157 heavy-duty residential (exceeds 15,000)
Serious About Clean...
Most performance fabrics promise stain resistance, but only one defies stains and stops spills from entering into a cushion. If moisture seeps into a cushion, it will manifest into the growth of microbial organisms and bacteria which lead to odors and other unmentionables. But this will never happen with Crypton. Crypton's commitment to anti-microbial protection goes without question. Crypton has locked performance, including their anti-microbial chemistry, into every fiber. This, coupled with Crypton's engineered moisture barrier, creates a super fabric that is unmatched in stopping germs from getting into cushions. The results are clean, safe fabrics.
How to Clean Crypton with Soap and Water
Most spills on Crypton can easily be cleaned with a towel. Just wipe up the spill with a clean cloth. However, for dried stains or more difficult stains, Crypton can be easily cleaned with a soap-and-water mixture. Simply combine 1 part of an enzyme powder detergent such as Tide® or Cheer® with 5 parts water. Apply the solution to the stain and wait a minute or two to allow the detergent to begin removing the stain. Then lightly rub/scrub the area and rinse thoroughly with clean water. Remember, water will not penetrate Crypton's barrier so don't be afraid to rinse liberally. All soap residues must be completely removed. As with any fabric, dirt and dust can build up, so vacuuming regularly is advised.

Crypton and PFOAs and VOCs
Perfluorooctanoic acids (PFOAs) and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) have become real concerns in today's marketplace. Crypton uses no PFOAs during its manufacturing process. Also, Crypton does not contain any VOCs that can be emitted over time into the air, adversely affecting indoor air quality.
Questions & Answers
Is Crypton a fabric?
Yes, it is a textile. Fiber constructions are encapsulated to work within Crypton's patented systems.
Can you put Crypton on any fabric?
No. This is not a coating or a treatment you spray on fabric. The fabric is immersed in a bath of this proprietary P385 formula and then cured. The fibers become permanently encased in the P385 formula. Think of Crypton as you would any other fabric, like silk, rayon or wool.
How does Crypton feel?
Like it's supposed to! Crypton comes in a range of fabric options that feel as great as they look: Suede, Woven's, Prints, Twill, Chenille, and even Velvet.
Can you use Crypton for outdoor applications?
Standard Crypton will provide 40+ hours of fading resistance just like any other interior fabric. Four hundred (400) hours are recommended for continual outdoor use. However, Crypton has been used successfully in protected outdoor areas.
Can you use bleach on Crypton?
The product has been tested for cleaning effectiveness using one part bleach to four parts water. This is the least effective method to clean the fabric. The American Society for Cleaning and Restoration has also indicated that prolonged usage of pure beach not properly removed will fade and harm the product. Germicidal detergents are far more effective and there is no potential for harming the fabric. In all instances, the cleaning agents should be completely removed.
Is there anything that can harm Crypton?
Yes. We do not recommend strong solvents to clean Crypton. Not all solvents will harm the fabric, but to be totally safe, please use water based cleaners.
How long do the benefits of Crypton Last?
Since the process permanently encases every fiber, the treatment becomes an integral part of the fabric. Crypton features will be there for the life of the fabric.
Is there any vinyl in Crypton?
No. There are no plasticizers, and manufacturing the product is far more advanced than a lamination process.
Is Crypton safe for kids and pets?
Yes, completely. Crypton does not contain any toxic chemicals, heavy metals, or carcinogens that can be leached out with water, upholstery cleaners, or even saliva from children and pets. Supported by extensive research, Crypton's products have been thoroughly tested and found safe for kids and pets - they can chew on them. Crypton is designed so that there are no more screams with spills and messes.

How can Crypton fabric be both breathable and provide a moisture barrier?

Is Crypton fire-retardant?
Crypton is UFAC Class 1, and it passes the normal Cal. 117E and NFPA 206 requirements. In addition, with order notification, Crypton can be treated to pass Cal. 133 (with components), IMO RES 16-52A, CRIB 5 Boston and New York Fire Codes, automotive FMVSS302 requirements, and aviation FAR25-853.

What other uses are there for Crypton?
